Last Night With The Gang; A Packhouse Party

Just a few snaps from last night

Last night we had a party down in the shed as the asparagus season is over and we've all done a bloody good job! Bbq, beers and birthday cake.

Anna had made me and Harland a present each, a handmade present that captures our ways pretty well and will make us remember our time on wood farm.
Unfortunately I'm a bit rushed at the moment. The rental car is outside fully laden and ready to go and there is a Kiwi bloke waiting to take over our caravan.
So it is with mixed emotions we leave Wood Farm and Norfolk, hoping to be back next year.
Next time I write we'll be in Scotland. It may be some time...
Lots of love to family and friends, old and new. Talk soon.

what should have been a good day...

turned out a bit naff....
Both me and Harland were hoping to go out with a bang.
Last day of asparagus sales
and I was expecting it to be roaring... nope.
The weather wasn't on our side and people seem to have fled the land-of-no-summer...
Started thinking about Scotland today. Countdown 3 days.
Looking for a good rugby club online and started thinking about packing.
the bbq we had planned for tonight has been postponed due to the weather beeing a bum.

Wicked!!!

Kristina, one of our Siberian students had been expecting a parcel from her mother for ages and it arrived today. I was actually in the office when she came to collect it and she giggled like a school girl. I was in the middle of trying to work out the timesheets and didn't pay any attention. Later on when me and Vik came back from training Kristina asked if I remembered that she'd told me she had a surprise arriving for me in a few weeks time. I did not. But anyway, she pulled out these wicked wellies, just like the ones she's got that I threatened I would to steal of her when she's asleep. Wicked surprise!!!! I was gobsmacked!!!!!

MEAN thunder and lightening again tonight.... We've had a lot of that lately....

Monday 18 June 2007

it's raining, it's pooring

It's bucketing down outside... again.
Thunder and lightening, verrry verrry frightening.

It didn't rain all that much during the weekend so we've taken up tennis and it was great fun and I did well for a beginner.
I love it how you kick ass

(Harland's own words)

Today's recipe

Oven Roasted Asparagus With Rosemary a'la Caroline

Roast enough asparagus with some balsamic vinegar and olive oil

and some peeled and crushed cloves of garlic and fresh rosemary

("leafy stuff") in the oven.

Don't know how hot because our oven has a mind of it's own

and I don't know how long because I wasn't wearing a watch but poke

it with a fork and you'll just know...

Serve with Parmesan and munch it up with something else nice

Open Farm Day

Today lovely Wood Farm was opened to the public as a part of a nationwide initiative to give people a better understanding of what goes on on a farm. About 60 people turned up for the guided walks which were both cut short due to lots of questions being asked. It's great to know that people are showing interest, especially in a country where some people don't realize that beer is made from something that grows in a field and ignore where their meat comes from.
