(easter) egg

Well, spring had a slight setback when it snowed the other day but it seems to be back on track now. Things are growing and today we got the first egg in ages from the chicks! Good ol chickies, they really seem to be enjoying themselves and are settling in ok in their new home.

Chicken Out Week @ Cromlix

Our amazing rescue battery hens, Audrey, Bersi, Caroline & Dolly, have moved house. After spending the winter in the stables, putting on good condition, we made the spontaneous decision to relocate them....

spring

When we got back from holiday there were loads of these little bad boys popping up everywhere.
And a few days ago I saw the first daffodil up at the university.
so, has it??
.
.
Has it?? Has it sprung? Spring? maybe just a little...

It feels like it's all kicking off! We've started planting seeds , in every available container, because we can't wait... We've got a spring and summer at cromlix to look forward to, and hopefully a good one this time...

We've let Sue&Roger know that were not coming to do the asparagus, which is gutting because it was so much fun! But on the other hand we've got that amazing trip at the end of the year on our minds...

We're actually quite busy at the moment... H is getting his personal trainer qualification and I'm doing an open uni course in human nutrition. The gym takes up a lot of time, and so does rugby. I'm really enjoying the gym, lifting weights and getting stronger. The rugby this time around has been a bit of as disappointment, I'm still trying to get amongst it, make the most of it...

Speaking of srping by the way... From River Cottage newsletter:

However damp and gloomy March may be, however much it shows its sullen side, I will never let it get me down. I feel defiant, jubilant even. After all, it’s not February, is it? The days are getting longer, the soil is getting warmer and I’m buoyed up at the potent inevitability of Spring. I have a real sense of anticipation as I know that, very soon, all of those winter evenings spent perusing seed catalogues, picking out the perfect varieties of broad beans, carrots, lettuce, peas and spinach are going to bear fruit. Well, vegetables at least.

Thanks Hugh, I could not have said it better my self!

Superchilled in a hotpool

Yesterday was amazing. We started off going for a run and after lunch at the flat we headed for the thermal baths. At first we were a bit puzzled, finding our way around the bath house was proving to be a bit of a challenge as it was a maze and there were no signs in english... We found two hot pools and a steam room and sat there thinking "there must be more to it than this...". After a while we ventured down the far end of the building and found the door to the other side. Another few indoor pools but above all there was the outdoor pool, huge beautiful stemin hot outdoor pool. There was also a sauna down some stairs with a cold pool outside it. I spent a little bit of time at the end of the day going between the hot sauna and icecold pool, it was really refreshing! Harland didn't like it at all. There was a whirlpool and a huge jacuzzi down one end of the outside pool, we spent quite a bit of time playing around there
Most of the day, however, was spent just floating around the pool together looking at the clear blue february sky enjoying the warmth.
By the way, the weather has been stunning so far.

Budapest baby- travel journal

After a fantastic week in Sweden we've no arrived in Budapest. When we arrived at the hostel we'd booked we were offered a flat to ourselves for the same price as a double room. The flat is near heroes square and is absolutely stunning a part from amateur like DIY... Last night after we'd made ourselves at home we went for a walk in the area and then down to otragon (the main eating district) for some stunning pizza.

We've spent today waking (lots!) across the river to Buda, up to the castle on the hill to enjoy the view and, after a hairy Gulach, back down again.

watch this space for updates and pictures will be added when we get home

We're having a nice, very relaxed time!
